Stewartry RFC
The provision of youth development and all further ages associated with Rugby as a sport is extremely important to us here at Stewartry RFC.
It is important in maintaining an active youth in the Region which then maintains the club positon as a social and recreational facility for
Castle Douglas and the surrounding area. It also creates interaction between Stewartry RFC and other neighbouring clubs and enables the Rugby
club to be involved directly with local schools.
Stewartry RFC have recently completed and will shortly officially open a gym and fitness suite, incorporating extra changing facilities and
providing disabled access. Once opened this will provide a new and accessible facility available to all associated with Rugby and the wider
public also.
This will also provide an excellent facility to the local development officer who can run strength and conditioning training for male and
female players.
Altogether Stewartry RFC as a whole is a valuable local club, and can provide a safe and well run environment for all young people in the area,
rugby players or not, to participate in a range of sport and fitness based activities.
In addition a project to incorporate a disable access to the main clubhouse has also began. The function room of the clubhouse is upstairs and
can be restrictive to the infirm and disabled who would like to participate further in club activities. By providing a disabled access
Stewartry RFC can provide a welcoming facility to anyone who wishes to visit on a social or business matter. Stewartry RFC have recently
received excellent support from” Friends of Scottish Rugby” whom we are very grateful indeed for looking favourably upon us, and allowing
Stewartry RFC to be the welcoming local facility to all for years to come.
