Glasgow Clan Logo

Glasgow Clan have been active as a Club for several years, however our Club numbers were decimated by Covid and we have only been able to support the founding members and re-form in the past 9 months or so. This began with official affiliate membership with the SRU. Prior to the last few months, we had been training as an informal group and joining Ayrshire Clan and supplementing their numbers.

"The Clans" rugby movement has been going for a number of years and was born out of a want to make rugby (and sport in general) more accessible to people with intellectual, physical and other disabilities. This initially begun in 2010 with the creation of Trust Rugby International.

There are a number of "Clans" throughout Scotland including the ones listed below (please click on the links to visit their FaceBook):
Glasgow Clan Inclusive RFC
Ayrshire Clan
Borders Clan
Fife Clan
Strathmore
Fife Clan
Edinburgh
Grampian Clan

Additionally, we learned over the 2024 festive period that we are now need of immediate indoor facilities as our previous facilities at The Glasgow Academy are unavailable. As part of our commitment to accessibility, we recognise that some of our players are unable to participate if the weather becomes inclement, which makes securing indoor facilities all the more important.

The donation from Friends of Scottish Rugby will be used to:
- Secure regular, indoor training space at a Glasgow Club / Life site for 1 hr per week, for a period of approximately 12 weeks before, we move to outdoor sessions at Allan Glen's RC in Bishopbriggs.
- Pay membership fees (significantly reduced) to Allan Glens, for use of their facilities for training and matches until September 2025.
- Provide funds for club equipment such as tackle bags/ shields

We are grateful for the generous support from Friends of Scottish Rugby.
