Forrester React 2 Rugby charity is approximately 10 years old and was set up to fund our Community Development Officer, who is employed to help
develop junior rugby in our community. Our current CDO Bradley Moffat delivers rugby to 7 primary schools and 3 high schools within our local
area.
Our u14s started this season with 5 players and now we can put out a team of 15 players plus substitutes thanks to Bradleys input within the
schools., Bradley coaches the U14s along with Keith Bradshaw one of our parent coaches and together they have helped to develop these players,
some of whom only started playing a few months ago, into an improving team who are able to compete with other teams of that age group.
The confidence and determination of these kids is a credit to Bradley and is further heightened by having two boys assigned to the SRU BT
Academy U14 Skills Programme. These numbers will continue to grow as the kids move up the section. Our minis section has grown 25% with
children continuing to attend the club. Each primary school receives a 6 week block of rugby throughout the year. This is the same in our high
schools. Bradley continues to grow the youth section and receives glowing reports from the Head of PE sections in the high schools and primary
schools alike.
Our minis section is continuing to grow and again the kids have coaches that have been at the rugby club for years so the continuity is there
throughout the club.
In our senior section we have a 1st XV and 2nd XV .80% of our 1st XV started with our mini section and came through the ranks of our midi section
and play at senior level now. I think this shows a huge commitment to the club.
Forrester Rugby Club is a family club and we hope to continue to grow our numbers over the next few years. At home games we encourage our minis
to come along and be a mascot for the day
The grant from Friends of Scottish Rugby will help us to continue to grow our youth section and continue to deliver rugby in our schools and
build our numbers within the club.
